Michael Dash
My name’s Michael Dash, and I’ve been working as a professional tree surgeon and arborist for more than 25 years. What began as a fascination with the natural world has grown into a lifelong career spent caring for, preserving, and understanding trees in all their complexity. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working across Surrey, London, and Kent, from small private gardens to large commercial estates and conservation areas. My work has involved everything from precision pruning and crown reduction to tree felling, stump grinding, and woodland management. No two trees are ever the same — and that’s exactly what keeps the job so rewarding. I’m passionate about the science behind healthy tree growth and the art of shaping and maintaining them safely. My approach is guided by both experience and respect: every cut I make is with purpose, ensuring that the tree remains structurally sound, aesthetically balanced, and environmentally beneficial. I hold NPTC qualifications in all major areas of tree work, including chainsaw operation, aerial climbing, rigging, and stump removal. I also work to BS3998:2010 standards, following best practice in every aspect of arboriculture. For me, safety, precision, and professionalism aren’t optional — they’re essential. Beyond the technical side, I’m a strong believer in education and transparency. I take time to explain to clients why certain work is recommended, how it benefits the tree, and what to expect as it recovers. Whether I’m advising on tree preservation orders (TPOs), helping homeowners identify disease, or providing emergency tree services after storm damage, I aim to make tree care clear, honest, and approachable. Outside of work, you’ll most likely find me outdoors — hiking local trails, studying native species, or photographing old trees that tell their own quiet stories. I’ve seen firsthand how much value healthy, well-managed trees bring to both people and places, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to help protect that. If you share that same respect for trees or simply want expert help maintaining them, I’m always happy to offer advice or a free site assessment. After 25 years in this trade, I still believe every tree deserves thoughtful care — and every property benefits from it.
